United States, Scott #C25, used(o), 1941 air mail; First Stamp from the Airmail Transporter Issue, stamp shows a twin-motored transport plane; the stamps of the series were intended to cover the various rates in effect for both domestic and overseas airmail service; this six cent stamp covered the rate for domestic airmail service, which included many letters to American servicemen overseas as mail to and from military overseas post offices took the domestic rate; series is controversial in the fact that it displays an aircraft which did not exist; the series shows a twin-engine, bulge-body, three fin, vertical stabilizer empennage, transport aircraft that looked good, capable, and busy, but existed from only the stamp artist's design; the first six stamps in the series were available in 1941 and were the workhorse stamps that carried US mail oversea to all theaters of war during World War II; 6 cents, engraved and Rotary Press Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), perforated: 11x10½, carmine, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 25¢, nicely centered (superb) which is unusually good for this issue as most are considerably off-centered, black-inked, vertical, half torpedo type cancel left of center in the lower middle of the stamp, and into the main image with an additional, half circular, touch cancel on the lower left border, back reveals a series of horizontal oval creases that extend to both the right and left corners, clipped corner perforation at both the right and left upper corners when viewed from the back, hence price considered; centering would warrant a selling price premium, but creases and perforation damage calls for an adjustment, so a wash. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive.
Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.55 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.68 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used. If not satisfied, return the stamp to me at your own expense, and I will refund the cost, but not my postage to you. If the stamp is not as described, I will refund the cost and reimburse you for postage both ways.
